Roasted Figs with Almonds

Figs are a very versatile fruit lending themselves to both sweet and savoury dishes and they go very well with duck.
This recipe uses fresh figs but if these aren't available, semi dried and fully dried these can be used with much the same effect.

INGREDIENTS

8 figs, cut into quarters
1 orange, juice and zest
100ml port
1 tbsp almond flakes, toasted
Freshly ground black pepper

METHOD

Mix orange juice and zest with the port. Add the figs and place in an ovenproof dish.

Place into a hot oven for 20 - 30 mins

When they are cooked spoon a portion onto the plate alongside the duck, and sprinkle with the flaked almonds.
